THE FIVE-FOLD MINISTRY – 10/21/17

In Ephesians 4:11 we read that God has given some apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers for the perfecting of the saints.

One brother on FB said he was disgusted with all these churches that have so called “Apostles.” He explained that an apostle is somebody who has seen the Lord Jesus personally. Consequently there can be none today. He went on to say the same about prophets. Finally he reported that he goes to a wonderful church where he has a great pastor. Wrong!

Beloved, I’m here to share with you that there is ONLY ONE CHURCH. the church of Jesus Christ. Everybody who knows Jesus personally belongs to His church. In all truth we don’t really go to church. We are the Church. We don’t forsake the assembling of ourselves together (Heb 10:25) but we acknowledge what Jesus said, “Where two or more are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst” (Matt 18:20).

I feel sorry for and pray for the brother that does not have the fivefold ministry where he gathers. My Bible tells me that Jesus who attends church with me is the APOSTLE and high priest of my profession (Heb 3:1).

Jesus, who attends church with me every time I come together with another believer is recognized by the multitude as the PROPHET (Matt 21:11).

Jesus is also my PASTOR. Isaiah 40:11, “He shall feed his flock like a shepherd and gather his lambs with his arms.”

And finally, Jesus is the EVANGELIST and TEACHER at our church. “Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom (Matt 4:23) and “he ever liveth to make intercession for us” (Heb 7:25).

Beloved, if you are sad and lonely and have no fellowship then come to church with Jesus. He will minister like none other. At His Church there is no building fund. He paid for it in full with his precious blood. And it is finished.
